CNA Week 2025: Honoring the Unsung Heroes of Patient Care

Every June, we dedicate a week to celebrating Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), and it’s not nearly enough time to recognize everything they do. CNA Week 2025 (June 13–19) is a time to uplift and honor the CNAs who are the backbone of patient care—yet all too often overlooked.
At Aequor, we staff know firsthand just how much compassion, skill, and strength they bring to every facility they serve. They may not always wear the title of “nurse” or “provider,” but they are the ones in the room, at the bedside, comforting, caring, and connecting.
CNAs: The First to Help, The Last to Leave
CNAs are often the first person a patient sees in the morning and the last person they see before falling asleep. They are there for the most personal, vulnerable moments of a patient’s day—providing not just physical care, but emotional support. Their presence brings comfort to patients and peace of mind to families.
They feed, bathe, reposition, and advocate. They listen, they care, they show up—physically and emotionally—day in and day out. For many families, CNAs are the people who ensure their loved ones are treated with dignity, especially when they can’t be there themselves.
Yet, despite their vital contributions, CNAs are often under recognized. Their work is demanding, both physically and emotionally. They care for multiple patients at once, perform difficult tasks with a smile, and build relationships that make all the difference in a patient’s healing journey.
Where Do CNAs Work?
CNAs serve in a wide variety of healthcare settings, including:
- Hospitals – Assisting patients post-surgery, during recovery, or in emergency situations.
- Nursing homes & long-term care facilities – Providing consistent care to elderly or chronically ill patients.
- Assisted living facilities – Helping residents with daily routines while promoting independence.
- Rehabilitation centers – Supporting patients recovering from injury, surgery, or illness.
- Home healthcare – Delivering one-on-one care in the comfort of a patient’s home.
- Hospice care – Offering end-of-life care focused on comfort, dignity, and emotional support.
Travel CNAs often take these responsibilities across state lines, working wherever they’re needed most— filling crucial gaps in areas experiencing staffing shortages or high patient demand.
What Do CNAs Do?
The scope of a CNA’s work is broad and essential. On any given day, a CNA may:
- Assist with daily living activities – Helping patients bathe, dress, eat, and use the restroom.
- Monitor and record vital signs – Including blood pressure, temperature, and pulse.
- Support mobility – Repositioning bedridden patients, helping with transfers, and assisting with walking.
- Observe and report changes – Notifying nurses and doctors of any changes in a patient’s condition.
- Provide companionship – Talking with patients, offering emotional support, and easing feelings of loneliness.
- Maintain cleanliness and comfort – Changing linens, cleaning patient areas, and ensuring a safe environment.
This work is intimate and critical. It requires patience, attentiveness, and deep empathy—qualities CNAs show every day, often without fanfare or recognition.
CNA Travelers Go Even Further
Travel CNAs take on the same demanding duties—while adjusting to new cities, new teams, and new systems. That takes resilience, professionalism, and courage. They walk into unfamiliar environments and immediately begin caring, connecting, and supporting.
These travelers fill urgent staffing needs in hospitals, long-term care facilities, and rehab centers across the country. Without them, many facilities couldn’t provide the standard of care their patients deserve.
Why CNA Week Matters
CNA Week is a chance to reflect, recognize, and raise awareness about:
- How essential CNAs are to healthcare outcomes.
- How often they’re overlooked—despite being the frontline eyes and ears of care.
- How much they carry, physically and emotionally, with very little public recognition.
- How important it is to advocate for better pay, safer working conditions, and more professional opportunities for CNAs.
At Aequor, we see CNAs for who they truly are: the heart and hands of healthcare. We don’t just celebrate you during CNA Week—we work year round to support you with high paying assignments, caring recruiters, and professional growth opportunities.
